Who secured more than $1 million in state shoreline funds to protect the Dumas Bay bluffs when the city bought the Visitation Retreat (now Dumas Bay Centre)? It was State Sen. Tracey Eide.

Who secured, and protected through several legislative sessions, $100 million in state transportation funds for the Triangle road project at I-5, SR 18 and SR 161? It was Sen. Tracey Eide.

These are just two of the high profile accomplishments Eide has achieved to benefit Federal Way. She doesn’t treat her post as a part-time job. As Majority Floor Leader, the three-term Senator keeps in constant touch with constituents and lawmakers to be sure that Federal Way’s interests are being served.

The Triangle Project will have statewide benefits. So, too, will other legislation she brought forth. That includes the simple majority for school bond elections and no cell phone usage while driving. She spearheaded the Intermediate Driver’s License bill that increased instruction requirements and eliminated driver distractions for teens. In the first year after it was passed, this legislation resulted in a 48 percent drop in teenage deaths and injuries in accidents.

Her long-term participation on education and human service committees gives her the breadth of understanding many elected officials lack. In these difficult times, seniority, leadership and a proven record of accomplishment are what Federal Way needs in Olympia. Please join me in re-electing Sen. Tracey Eide.
