Coup d’etat in the mayor race? | Federal Way letters

Jim Ferrell is the consumate politican and has been the entire eight years he has been a Federal Way City Council member. His style and methods couldn’t be more consistent with professional politicians. In fact, when he organized the last “change the structure of government” campaign by harnessing the energy of the small group of angry, anti-everything crowd, he brought in a full-time paid political consultant to run the pro mayor campaign complete with its populist fear mongering rhetoric. To characterize Jim Ferrell as a simple public servant is laughable. He is the epitome of self-serving manipulative politicians, and he created phase one of his coup d’etat with the change of government effort, and now to complete it, he just needs to get himself elected mayor. The bloodless coup will be done and he will have the six-figure salary and control he couldn’t otherwise get.

Skip Priest simply recognizes this is a critical time for the city as well as the county, state and federal government. Circumstances are far different than they were when he served in the city before, and he has been in a better position to get a macro view of those circumstances. To suggest somehow Priest is late to the party suggests letter writer Ms. Sheryl Nevers (Sept. 15) doesn’t have a very good understanding of the big picture. Be that as it may, the interests Jim Ferrell is going to look out for first and foremost is Jim Ferrell. That’s what politicians do.
