Julie dares to question.
As a public servant, that’s exactly what she should do. Julie Hiller wants the best for Federal Way, so she is willing to question the status quo and the majority in order to achieve optimal results. She is not a “yes” or “blank check” kind of person.
When council members challenge assumptions and delve into complex or controversial issues by researching them on their own, they make better decisions on behalf of the community. Julie has proven time and again through her involvement in Federal Way that this is how she will approach her position on council.
Julie has volunteered in Federal Way for decades.
She is compassionate, hardworking, energetic and believes helping others will enable them to help themselves. She has a long list of organizations she has put boots on the ground for, endeavoring to make a difference one person at a time or for whole groups of people. But just having a list as long as your arm that you attach your name to isn’t enough in my book. What really matters is that she’s not there for the “photo opp” or the “feel good” high of looking like she cares, she’s there to dig down deep and truly help people in Federal Way.
Julie believes people are fundamentally good.
Julie is a positive, upbeat person who sees the best in others, but she’s also not blinded to the fact that people have their own challenges. This duality of understanding people allows Julie to work cohesively with others while seeing the big picture of any situation.
It’s her first time running for elected office.
Federal Way needs new leaders to provide an alternative to those already elected or those who have previously run unsuccessfully for office.
Julie has never run for office before, and her professional background is a perfect fit for Federal Way City Council. She has experience working with complex budgets, making high-level financial decisions, working on land/property acquisitions and running a business.
Julie Hiller is the kind of person I want representing me.
Even as a city council member myself, I recognize the other council members serving with me also represent me. So, it’s important to me to have representation that reflects my own values and goals for Federal Way. These are values and goals many in the community tell me are theirs, as well.
I wholeheartedly support Julie Hiller for Federal Way City Council Position 5.
