I am humbled to be elected to the Federal Way City Council, and honored to represent the citizens of our fine city on the council.
You, the citizens, have entrusted me to help our city continue to move in the right direction, and I take this responsibility seriously.
I thank you for your confidence in me. I promise to be a good steward of our resources. I will devote my time and energy to this position, and of course, will continue listening to you.
There are many people I would like to thank for the time and effort put forth on my campaign. First and foremost, my wife, Sue. Many of you saw her on the busy corners leading the sign-waving charge, waving her sign, her pompom (just as she did years ago as a Federal Way High School head cheerleader), and yelling with excitement at every honk and wave from passers-by. Her core team of sign-wavers, Nancy Combs and Elaine Bergstrom were there too, rain or shine, working hard to get our name out there. Martin Moore is a professional advisor with whom I spent many hours — including late hours — figuring out our next move. Judith Madden Magruder did a great job leading the letter-writing campaign.
I could continue for a full page naming those who have provided help and support. To all of you, just know that I am indebted to you for your participation through campaign donations, letter-writing, sign waving and just spreading the word in your own way.
Jack Dovey has graciously served our community with dignity, foresight and professionalism. I have known Jack for many years, and respect him for what he has done for us all. I consider Jack a friend, and thank him for running a campaign that was above board and fair. For some reason, I don’t think Jack is done serving the public in one way or another.
I congratulate Jim Ferrell and Dini Duclos for re-election to the council, and Susan Honda for her first-time election.
Lastly, I look forward to working with Mayor Skip Priest and all city council members on behalf of our well-deserving citizens.
Bob Celski, Federal Way City Councilman-elect
