The Mirror jeered retailers that opened on Thanksgiving because you demanded the public should “spend it with friends and family.”

I am compelled to disagree based on grounds of discrimination. And, by stating what you did about what the public should do on Thanksgiving, you are discriminating and are probably subject to the monster of all lawsuits.

Thanksgiving is a Christian-founded celebration. As a nation of vast and ever increasing diversity, with many citizens that are non or anti-Christian, as a (retired) 30-year retailer in Federal Way, I would fear lawsuits if my retail store were not open on Thanksgiving (because we were normally open on Thursdays). If we were to close, we are discriminating against non-Christians and disrupting their freedom to shop on Thursdays (every week).

And, if you don’t believe it could happen, just check ambulance chaser points-of-view on hot coffee (McDonald’s), for example.

The lesson: Freedom of speech goes out the window as we get way too weird.
