I was a vendor at the World Championship of Sand Sculpting. We should be very proud to have a world class event in our city. I met people from out of state and out of the country who all came to Federal Way just for the event. All the people I had the pleasure to talk to really enjoyed the sculptures and were amazed at the detail. I met people that came more than two times, first to watch the sculptures at work, and then again to see them completed, and also to see who won the awards. The word that was most used to describe the sculptures was “awesome.” Everyone I talked to said they enjoyed the event and would come back next year.

The only negative reports I got were the weather conditions.

I hope Federal Way will be a permanent home for this world class event for many years. This event can only grow every year and make Federal Way a destination city for a world class championship event.

It took a lot of volunteers to put on this event. Many worked lots of hard hours and everyone involved should be congratulated for a job well done. I will be happy to be part of next year’s event.
