I am a permanent cosmetic artist in Federal Way and have 20 years of experience in the industry. I have worked at a plastic surgeon’s office for eight years and also at a salon and spa in Federal Way. I tattoo mastectomy patients and also do cosmetic tattooing. I help mastectomy patients and do the tattooing for free if they don’t have insurance.
I have been working with nine other people at the state Department of Licensing (WSDOL) on the advisory board to identify issues in need of further revision. Our committee consists of four body artists, two body piercers and four permanent cosmetic artists. We strongly support Senate Bill 5074 and House Bill 1256. We are working closely with WSDOL staff to address issues of safety and develop rules. We are working diligently toward broad, bipartisan support for the bills, and are hopeful that the bills will pass this session. We are excited to have the opportunity to have a voice in the regulation of our industries.
