Well here we go again, another election year with more lies and half-truths from our incumbents and their challengers. Who else, besides me, is not looking forward to another year of lies and half-truths?

We don’t hear from the incumbents during their time, after being re-elected, but boy do we hear from them now, and what a great job they are doing either in Washington, D.C., or Olympia, even the county and cities.

Really? You could have fooled me, which you did. During her run for her second term in office, the governor of this great State of Washington said she would not approve of more taxes. Really? Then why are we going to be paying taxes on bottled water, gum, candy that doesn’t have flour ingredients, etc.? When are our elected going to start cleaning house in their own offices? How many staff members do any of those in Washington, D.C., and Washington state really need? One of our congressmen has over 60 staff members, and claims this is needed in Washington, D.C., and his offices in Tacoma. Why?

Now the South King Fire and Rescue is in need of more funds to keep certain programs running. The King County Council has decided that since they couldn’t get a tax on the ballot, they will have to cut costs, and this will mean fewer sheriff deputies. Why? It seems strange that when King County needs more money, and says if they can’t raise taxes, then these public safety programs will have to lose personnel who are there to protect our very lives. Do you see any of these council members trimming their staff? They always seem to want to scare the very people who put them in office with cutting the very needs of those citizens who voted them into office.

Our monthly income is limited and we have to cut costs from time to time, so why not our elected? The City of Federal Way seems to have money to spend on frivolous projects, but not important needs, like money to support our fire departments and law enforcement.

In Washington, D.C., they vote themselves big fat raises, add more to their staff, and we are stuck with the bill. We are not billions in debt, but going into debt in the trillions. So when are they going to cut the “fat cat” out? Isn’t it possible for every city and county, in the great State of Washington, cut their spending in half, like the rest of us, who have to live within a budget? Why does this governor need two secretaries?

There are enormous questions, but very few if any answers.
