A challenge for the superintendent

I ask, has anyone seen the superintendent’s answers to each one of these questions?

In my letter titled “Questions for superintendent over SBA results” published in the Mirror on March 15, I asked the following questions regarding the districts solution(s) to rectifying the disastrous FWPS 2017-2018 SBA results where 66% of Federal Way students failed SBA math and 54% failed SBA English:

“Questions: 1. What immediate requirements does your new plan place upon principals, teachers, and students of this FW school district to ensure future student SBA success (i.e. a minimum of 70% passing rate)? 2. How does the new plan differ from the old plan? 3) How was the new plan developed? 4) What proof do you have the new plan will work? And, 5) if you have not yet implemented a new SBA plan then tell us why not?”

I ask, has anyone seen the superintendent’s answers to each one of these questions?

Additionally, does the superintendent know why SBA scores are so pathetically low? How is the low scoring SBA problem defined? What is the specific element by element cause and solution to each component of the problem, i.e. what are the root causes and solutions? What irrefutable proof is offered to show that the proposed “solutions” will solve each and every element of the problem? Is the problem correctly defined? After all, how can a problem be solved if the causes are incorrectly identified? Where is all this information documented?

As SBA exams approach again in May, we parents must know whether our children will be better prepared to pass these upcoming and future SBA exams!

So Ms. Superintendent, in the spirit of transparency will you email today all school parents citing the location of where you answered each one of the original questions and please include answers to the additional questions? Thereafter immediately submit a letter in the Mirror citing that location so all Federal Way residents can see what you have done to help our children improve on their English and Math SBA scores this May?
