All of the mailers I have received from the Mark Miloscia campaign, as well as the letters to the Mirror that I have read regarding his candidacy, refer to Mark’s work in the Federal Way school district as a “substitute teacher,” or simply as “a teacher.” In not setting the record straight, he is not being forthright about his qualifications.
Mr. Miloscia’s work in the classroom was that of an emergency substitute as Mark possesses no teaching credentials. Emergency substitutes are only called when there are no certificated substitute teachers available. This is probably why Mark never talks specifically about how often he was called upon to work in the public schools.
Since leaving elected office in 2010, his online resume lists his job experience as a lobbyist in Olympia for the Washington State Catholic Conference.
Mark may well have been a very qualified lobbyist advocating that more public money should be given to private Catholic schools. However, being in a classroom a half day per month does not make him a qualified teacher any more than taking a day-long first aid course makes someone a registered nurse.
It is deceitful to imply that you are a certificated teacher when you are not.
