$12 per hour phased approach is right thing to do | Letter of the Week

As a local business owner here in Federal Way I have a strong interest in the economic well-being of our community.

The state House just passed a measure to increase the minimum wage to $12 per hour phased in over four years. I believe this is the right thing to do and the proposed implementation is a very reasonable and modest approach.

The economic well-being of our community means employees earning a livable-wage. We should strive to make sure our employees are able to live in the communities they work in and enjoy a good quality of life. Thanks to Rep. Carol Gregory for voting in support of the minimum wage increase. I was surprised and disappointed to see Rep. Linda Kochmar’s vote against this measure.

Hopefully, we will get the chance to see Sen. Mark Miloscia’s position during this legislative session.
