A new water ride is coming this summer to Wild Waves Theme Park in Federal Way.
An online naming contest is being created by Wild Waves for the new ride, which is referred to as the Cannon Bowl in the industry, according to a news release. Wild Waves will involve guests and season pass holders in the naming process through its social media avenues.
It will be the theme park’s first new attraction since 2005, when the Zooma Falls water slide opened.Construction on the new ride will begin soon. When embarking on the ride, guests are quickly dropped into a steep chute that swirls the riders into multiple high-speed revolutions around the outer perimeter, then gradually slows riders as they approach the patented Corkscrew exit at the bowl’s center. The ride ends safely in a splash pool below.
Wild Waves Theme Park, 36201 Enchanted Parkway S., will be open May 14 through Sept. 11. The annual Fright Fest runs Fridays through Sundays in October. The 70-acre theme park employs about 1,000 people each season. Call (253) 661-8000 or visit wildwaves.com.
