On Jan. 26, Federal Way timber giant Weyerhaeuser Co. announced the closure of two mills in Washington due to weak market conditions, according to the Puget Sound Business Examiner.

The company will close the Aberdeen sawmill, which has a capacity to produce 200 million board feet of lumber. The other closure is the Pacific Veneer mill in Aberdeen, which has the capacity to produce 210 million square feet of veneer, according to the Business Examiner.

The closures will affect some 220 workers at the plants. Weyerhaeuser continues to restructure the sale or closure of some of its wood assets, according to the Business Examiner.
