Bright colors from lime green to pink, and fabric textures from lace to chiffon, greet visitors to the new J’s Formalwear in The Commons mall in Federal Way. Mark Rizzo is the store manager and Courtney Smith assists with sales. Smith is a local resident, who also graduated from Federal Way’s Todd Beamer High School.
This is the second location for J’s Formalwear. The first store opened five years ago in Auburn’s SuperMall. Both stores are owned by Jae Cha, who is originally from South Korea.
In addition to formal dresses and men’s suits for sale, visitors will find a wide range of tuxedos for both rent and sale. The formal jacket brands range from Calvin Klein, Oscar de la Renta and Marc Ecko to Kenneth Cole, After Six and Avanti, Rizzo said. To add dashes of color to the formal jacket, an extensive palette of color and fabric design choices are offered in vests, ties and pocket squares.
Women’s formal wear brands offered are Jovani, Tiffany, Eden, Xtreme, Morgan & Co. and Kiss Kiss, among others, he said. Also, wedding gowns and other women’s formal wear, including dresses for girls, are available for in-store ordering through Mary’s collections catalogues.
In all, the 3,500-square-foot store carries up to 60 brands of men’s and women’s formal wear. The store also sells sunglasses, cuff links, tie bars, wallets and formal shoes.
Alterations are provided by Jae Cha and his spouse Kyung Jung, who together have a total of 45 years of experience in alterations.
