Dickey’s Barbecue Pit is coming to Federal Way at a location to be announced.

This family-owned restaurant launched in 1941 in Dallas. It began franchising in 1994, and now has locations across the country. Dickey’s offers a variety of barbecued items. Federal Way will be its first Washington location.

“We have been eyeing Washington state for some time,” said Richard Philips, development director for Dickey’s Barbecue Restaurants Inc. “We have a very strong presence in California, but we needed to begin targeting farther north on the coastline.”

The chain averaged 35 percent growth during the past two years and company officials say there are 60 new locations in the planning for 2011.
