Small business awards

The U.S. Small Business Administration’s Seattle District Office announced its 2011 small business awards March 24. The Home-Based Business Champion award went to Cosette Gibson-Pfaff, South Sound Regional Business Incubator, Federal Way. The Minority Small Business Champion award went to Mike Skinner, StartZone – Highline Community College, Des Moines.

Union merger

Members of UFCW 21 and UFCW 81 approved a merger of the two local union groups.The merger is effective April 1. After this time, UFCW 21 will have more than 37,000 members in Washington working in grocery stores, retail, health care, meat processing and other industry jobs. Click here to read more.
