Key Compounding Pharmacy in Federal Way has new owners, but business will continue as usual for the local staple.
“Revelation Pharma will take over full operations of both pharmacies immediately while continuing to focus on the needs and well-being of their many patients,” according to a press release.
The pharmacy first opened in 1963 in Kent and moved to Federal Way in 2012. Many of the staff there stayed through multiple transitions, including current general manager Lisa Paris.
Located at 530 S. 336th St., Key Compounding Pharmacy is the first in the state to be accredited by the Pharmacy Compounding Accreditation Board (PCAB), according to HistoryLink.
The pharmacy provides services that typical pharmacies cannot.
“Compounding is personalized medicine. As humans, we are not one size fits all,” Paris said in an interview with the Mirror. “Compounding provides a way to be specific to that patient. You’re working with the provider to create a medication that is specific to you … and provides an alternative to the manufacturer one size fits all … it’s like an art.”
Revelation Pharma is a portfolio company of Osceola Capital Management, which is a private equity firm based in Tampa, Florida, that focuses on what they call Micro Private Equity.
In practice, this means they buy out lower middle market companies, and then turn a profit with those businesses.
“To join the Revelation Pharma national network of compounding pharmacies is a big step for us, especially as we look to the future in how we support our patients who have come to rely on us over the years,” said HeeJoo Park, owner of Key Compounding Pharmacy, in a press release. “We’re excited for what’s to come by this addition to the Key Compounding Pharmacy story.”
Paris shared that Park sold the business because she was ready to retire and wanted to make sure customers and clients would still continue uninterrupted service.
