Coffee roaster and wholesaler Caffe D’arte will move its headquarters to Federal Way in 2014.
After 27 years in South Seattle’s Georgetown area, the company needs more room to grow, said general manager Joe Mancuso.
Founded in 1985, Caffe D’arte and its nearly 60 employees will move to the former Orion Industries building at 33926 9th Ave. S. Boeing supplier Orion is relocating to a new facility in Auburn and is expected to vacate the premises in February. Caffe D’arte expects to be fully operational in Federal Way before the end of June 2014.
The company’s principal owner, Jeff Stock, is also CEO of Wild Waves Theme Park and owner of Omni Properties. Federal Way was chosen for the company’s new headquarters because of Stock’s rich history of doing business in the city, Mancuso said.
“We’re excited about the move to Federal Way. We’re excited to be part of a community that will embrace us,” Mancuso said. “It’s a big move for the company.”
Caffe D’arte buys and roasts green raw coffee from around the world. The Federal Way facility will allow for more roasting and packaging capabilities, Mancuso said.
Caffe D’arte is strictly a wholesale brand that’s found in local restaurants, cafes, bakeries and hotels. Well-known customers include The Lobster Shop in Ruston and Dash Point, and Pacific Grill in downtown Tacoma.
