A second Ace Hardware store has opened in Federal Way, both owned by John Walker. The first one, Walker Ace Hardware, located near Metropolitan Market, will continue to operate.
The second store, called the Northshore Village Ace Hardware, recently moved into its new 9,000-square-foot space at 35419 21st Ave. SW. “We are one of the few stores in the area that offer Benjamin Moore and Co. paint,” said John Swoboda, the store manager. The newest Federal Way store is among more than 4,600 Ace Hardware stores worldwide.

Orion’s customer relations service and training center building is receiving an interior overhaul to accommodate the addition of a tele-service division, a state of the art 55-seat contact center, said Matt Van de Voorde, tele-service general manager. The tenant improvement started Dec. 1.
Orion is a nonprofit organization that has over 50 years of experience as a social entrepreneur integrating successful commercial business enterprises and vocational services for individuals with disabilities.
In other news, Orion’s manufacturing division just installed an aerospace hydraulic assembly department, said Van de Voorde. This department will produce ready-to-install hydraulic valves and pumps and will create 13 additional jobs.

A local father and son team, Ick Jun Kim and Author Kim, recently remodeled a 16,000-square-foot building at 1727 S. 316th St. to establish the new Palace Spa. The facility offers six different spa rooms: Red clay, jewel, rock salt, ice and steam and dry saunas. Other services include massages and skin and nail care. The spa’s Web site (www.enjoypalacespa.com) lists a total of 14 different spa packages; 10 offered to women and four to men.
The spa, which employs 14 people, is managed by Sue Kim. Open to the public, it offers a range of memberships though customers are not required to be a member.

Simply Paws, an all-natural pet supplies and self-service dog wash business that also offers dog grooming services, has expanded to a 2,890-square-foot second location at 35419B 21st Ave. S.W. “The new location offers a larger selection of small animal foods and additional brands of pet food,” said Marnie Moore, who is co-owner with her spouse, Jon Moore.
Their first store is located at 1606A S.W. Dash Point Road and it continues to serve area customers.
The Moore couple reside in Federal Way. Marnie Moore is also a librarian at Wildwood Elementary School in Federal Way and a teacher at Crescent Heights in Northeast Tacoma.

Shoes-n-Feet is extending its annual used shoe donation campaign until Jan. 31. “Because of the winter storms, we have fallen short of reaching our goal on behalf of the Multi-Service Center,” said co-owner Bob Boustedt. Each donor will receive a $10 gift coupon and may receive a free digital foot scan, said Boustedt.
Used shoes still in good condition may be dropped off at 31653 Pacific Highway S. during store hours: Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, call (253) 946-3400.
“Foot doctors regularly refer their patients to Shoes-n-Feet,” said Boustedt. “Our focus is on foot health, hard to fit feet and people who stand all day,” he added.
