The Enterprise Elementary School PTA will host an ESCAPE charity auction at 6 p.m. today, April 26 at the Centre at Norpoint in Federal Way. Funds raised will benefit the Accelerated Reader reading program and repairs to playground equipment.
If St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Federal Way had a pulpit, Rev. Dr. Victor V. Hippe would step into it for the final time on April 27.

In response to Sara Slater’s sea lettuce opinion (April 19), we were one of the neighbors who complained about the stench of the sea lettuce. Dumas Bay is a shallow, protected bay and we’ve lived here for 21 years (hardly new citizens). The beautiful summer (2006) was one of the worst for the smell. Maybe Sara could sit out on her deck without any smell, but we couldn’t. Perhaps her location is different, upwind/downwind or farther away. How many of our citizens farm and eat the Dumas Bay seaweed anyway? It just rots in the sun.

The April 19 story “Grant aims to curb dropouts” said that Sacajawea Middle School student Brent Montgomery had dropped out of school in January. However, the student is still enrolled at Sacajawea, said district spokeswoman Diane Turner. By law, students cannot drop out of school until age 16, Turner said. The Mirror regrets the error.

Brock Haskins loved to steal cars and had a special taste for Ford pickup trucks. He would spray down the interiors with WD-40 to eliminate any finger prints, then steal the lights, the seats, or whatever he could lay his hands on.
