Federal Way resident Kerrene Marcia Buford was a state finalist for the National American Miss Washington Teen pageant, which ran Sept. 5-7. Buford finished as the first runner-up to the actual Miss Washington Teen winner. Buford is a senior at Christian Faith School, where she is an honor roll student, senior class president and captain of her cheerleading squad. She is also an alumni of the Federal Way Chamber of Commerce Advancing Leadership Youth (ALY) program.

Buford will travel to California in November to compete against all the other first runner-ups from across the nation. She is looking for companies to sponsor her at the national competition. To learn more, call (206) 427-0725.
