A blog post Monday on MyBallard.com reports that Knotty Bodies Espresso plans to move from Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood to Federal Way. The move could happen as soon as Friday, according to the blog by “Geeky Swedes.” The Mirror is still trying to reach Knotty Bodies to confirm details.
Knotty Bodies was at the center of a controversy when it opened in Ballard and Bellevue. Residents of Ballard felt the business was a detractor to one of the most storied neighborhoods in Seattle. Those who lived near the stand in Bellevue were outraged at its location near a park frequented by children.
In Federal Way, bikini baristas became a hot topic when the Pink Spot Cafe opened last fall. While the public outrage wasn’t as large as that experienced in Ballard and Bellevue, the Pink Spot Cafe’s existence did lead to the Federal Way City Council amending the “public morals” code. The amendment more clearly defined how much skin could be shown by baristas.
On the MyBallard blog, comments on the possible move ranged from disappointed to joyful.
“Darn, there goes my morning cup of joe,” said one commenter.
“Oh thank the Lord! Girls dressed in what amounts to a bathing suit was spoiling the resale value of my condo!” wrote another user.
