Dave and Pam Ranch at Keller Williams Realty Puget Sound used the football season to find an inventive way to keep in touch with clients.
The couple created a football pool and asked their past and prospective clients if they would be interested in participating.
Each week, people would vote on which NFL team they thought would win and whoever got the most correct guesses for the week would win a $25 gift card.
If there was a tie, the tiebreaker question regarded how many points the Seahawks would receive in their game. Federal Way’s Movement Mortgage partnered with Keller Williams and contributed funds for prizes.
“We thought it would be a fun thing for our clients and also a great way to keep in touch with them,” Dave Ranch said. “Generally people only buy a house once every seven years and unless an agent is in contact with them all the time, it’s easy for them to forget about us.”
For all 16 weeks of football games played this year, someone won a gift card each week.
Around 60 clients participated.
“We kept track of who won the most during the course of the year and awarded a big screen television to that person,” Dave Ranch said.
The winner was Federal Way resident, Paul Pyle.
Since Pyle had already bought himself a new television, the Ranch’s awarded him a $500 Visa gift certificate to spend however he chooses.
“I was surprised to win because I’m not one of those people that watches every game and knows the teams very well,” Pyle said. “I just got lucky.”
Pyle said he started off not doing very well, but quickly started climbing ahead each week.
“This made me more interested in football this year,” Pyle said. “I paid more attention at what was going on this year for sure.”
Pyle plans on using the gift certificate to purchase gas for his RV.
Pyle and his wife are headed for a three-month trip starting in California and ending in Arizona.
“This fun game is an example of what a great company this is and what great people the Ranch’s are,” Pyle said. “I’ve bought two homes from them and they made the process so easy for me.”
Dave Ranch credits his son Chris for coming up with idea for a football pool.
“We’ve always done fantasy football together and had an office football pool going and he said one day, ‘hey, let’s do it for our clients too,’” he said.
Keller Williams plans on hosting another football pool next year.
“It was a good thing to do for our business and our clients really seemed to enjoy themselves,” he said.
