Cut, natural holiday trees are picked up for free from all Federal Way residents each year, regardless if you subscribe to yard waste or garbage collection.

Trees must be set out by 7 a.m. and cut in half if over 6 feet tall. Decorated or flocked trees cannot be composted and will be charged as garbage.

All collected trees are taken to Cedar Grove Composting, mixed with food and other yard debris, then turned into compost.

Single-family: Dec. 29 through Jan. 3 and Jan. 5-9 on neighborhood collection day.

Multi-family: Jan. 2 and Jan. 9 (Property managers need to call 800-592-9995 to sign up for free service).
