Scam involves search for birth mother | Federal Way crime blotter

Following was taken from the Federal Way police log:

• Scam: At 3:47 p.m. May 7 in the 2200 block of South Star Lake Road, a woman reported she was involved in a scam. A person in Federal Way told the woman her mother could be found for $250. The victim’s birth mother was not found and the suspect made off with the money.

• Verbal argument: At 6:47 p.m. May 4 in the 31600 block of 7th Place South, police were called to the scene of a verbal argument between a dating couple. The fight was over one partner’s lack of compassion for the recent loss of the other partner’s son.

• Fast food robbery: At 9:25 a.m. May 4 at 32925 1st Avenue South, a man robbed a Subway sandwich store and made off with $146.

• Skipping on the tab: At 11:17 p.m. May 5 at 33324 Pacific Highway South, a group of roughly eight subjects left a restaurant without paying their bar tab, which was $255.

• Stolen identity information: At 2:40 p.m. May 5 in the 33300 block of 18th Lane South, a woman’s Social Security card, ring and green card were stolen from the victim’s purse.

• Garage burglary: At 5:51 p.m. May 5 in the 31200 block of 7th Avenue South, police responded to a burglary. The owner said the unknown persons entered the garage and stole $4,420 worth of merchandise.

• Fraudulent prescription: At 4:23 p.m. May 6 at 35100 Enchanted Parkway, a suspect attempted to pass a fraudulent prescription. The suspect left the store before officers arrived.

• Snatched mail: At 2:52 p.m. May 6, a man’s postal carrier informed him that mail had been taken out of his box. The carrier spotted a red SUV acting suspiciously prior to the incident. A similar occurrence was reported in the neighborhood via an online outlet.

• Panhandling: At 12:32 p.m. May 6 at 35030 Enchanted Parkway, a man was seen panhandling from a sidewalk. He was arrested and given a court date.

• Determined crook: At 7 a.m. May 6 in the 4040 block of SW 337th Street, a person reported that an unknown suspect cut a hole in the top of a convertible vehicle, then removed the vehicle’s seat, door and accessories.

• Missing trumpet: At 1:58 p.m. May 6 at 1101 S. Dash Point Road, a student reported finding his locker at school empty of his trumpet. He searched the classroom and bank lockers, but found nothing.
