Following is a sample from the Federal Way police log:
• Aggressive pit bull: At 11:28 a.m. June 1 in the 300 block of South 304th Place, a woman reported that every time she attempted to step outside of her residence, a neighbor’s loose pit bull would attempt to attack her. Animal Control officers were dispatched, and the report notes the dog also attacked them. The report is unclear on the dog’s fate.
• Care home residents spar: At 1:21 p.m. May 31 in the 1000 block of South 308th Street, a care home employee reported that two residents had been in a brief scuffle, where one slapped the other in the chest. According to the report, both of the residents involved are wheelchair bound and have dementia, and neither could recall the incident when they were interviewed by police.
• Mail theft: At 6:38 a.m. May 31 in the 2900 block of SW 337th Street, a resident of a neighborhood reported that his mailbox, along with 17 others in the neighborhood, had apparently been burglarized by unknown suspects.
• Attempted mail theft: At 1:59 a.m. June 1 in the 36000 block of 6th Avenue SW, a man interrupted two suspects attempting to steal his mail. The suspects fled, and police were unable to locate them later.
• Abusive boyfriend jailed: At 11:26 a.m. June 1 in the 27000 block of 24th Place South, a man struck his girlfriend repeatedly across the back with a belt after she failed to properly do his laundry. According to the report, the suspect said he felt the physical punishment was needed so the woman would learn respect. The man was arrested for fourth-degree assault.
• Teens dine and dash: At 10:25 a.m. June 1 in the 1400 block of South 324th Street, a group of teenagers ate at a buffet restaurant and walked out on their nearly $100 tab.
• Welfare check: At 11:29 a.m. June 2 in the 28000 block of 26th Avenue South, police were called for a welfare check on an individual. According to the report, the individual was passed out in the roadway, and was extremely intoxicated.
• Attempted paint theft: At 1:43 p.m. June 2 in the 33000 block of 21st Avenue South, a man was arrested for attempting to steal approximately $69 worth of paint.
• Thief writing big checks: At 4:25 p.m. June 2 in the 35000 block of Enchanted Parkway South, a woman reported that someone is fraudulently using her checking/banking account. According to the report, the woman had reported her purse stolen in Tacoma at the beginning of May. Since then, the unknown suspect has written checks at the Federal Way Costco totaling almost $2,600.
• Malicious mischief: At 9:24 p.m. June 2 in the 34000 block of 11th Avenue SW, a construction site security worker reported seeing three teens “wearing ties” exit a vehicle and tip over a Port-A-Potty on the site.
