Jeanne Burbidge has announced her bid for re-election to the Federal Way City Council position four. She was first elected in 1997, and served as appointed mayor during her second term in 2002.
Burbidge has experience on multiple regional and council committees, and currently chairs the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee. She has represented the city on several transportation and economic development boards.
In 2010, the Municipal League of King County honored Burbidge as “Public Official of the Year.” Click here to read an interview.
In a news release, Burbidge said her priorities will continue to focus on, road maintenance, public safety, and transforming the downtown by stimulating businesses and development.
“I am proud of our city and what we have accomplished, and I look forward to serving my fellow citizens with the insight, knowledge and experience that I have gained during my years of public service,” Burbidge said in a news release.
A kickoff event for Burbidge’s campaign is set for 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 9, at the Hampton Inn, 32710 Gateway Center Blvd. Email jeanneburbidge@comcast.net.

• Federal Way Mayor Skip Priest recently announced his bid for re-election. Priest was the city’s first elected mayor, winning about 52 percent of the vote in 2010. So far, no challengers have come forward.
• For city council position two, Kelly Maloney and Mark Koppang have declared their candidacies. Maloney was appointed to the seat in January and is running to keep the seat. Koppang previously ran for council in 2011. Click here for more details.
• Diana Noble-Gulliford was appointed to the council in January to fill another vacant seat. She told The Mirror she will run to retain that seat, with an official announcement to come.
• South King Fire and Rescue Commissioner Bill Gates announced his bid for re-election for position one. He was first elected to the board in 2001 and was re-elected in 2007. Click here to read more.
