2011 All-City First Team
Jada Piper, Jefferson
The Raider sophomore was the leading scorer for a team that finished just one victory short of qualifying for the postseason in the rugged SPSL North. Piper scored 11.2 points a game and was in double figures in 15 of the Raiders’ 20 games. She had a season-high 19 points during a 43-41 win over Kentlake on Feb. 4.
Darah Huertas-Vining, Federal Way
The junior point guard had another impressive season for the Eagles. As a sophomore, Huertas-Vining was Federal Way’s second-leading scorer, as she was this year. She finished the season averaging 13.3 points and scored 385 total points. Huertas-Vining scored a season-high 21 points during a 61-point win over Curtis on Dec. 14.
She was a first-team, All-SPSL South Division selection by the league’s coaches.
Raven Benton, Federal Way
The sophomore had a breakout season for the state runner-ups. The 5-foot-9 guard brought the ball up the court on several occasions and averaged 9.6 points during the season. Benton tallied a career-high 20 points during a 70-61 win over Emerald Ridge on Dec. 7.
She was a first-team, All-SPSL South Division selection by the league’s coaches.
Dyesha Belhumeur, Federal Way
The junior was the Eagles’ fifth-leading scorer at 9.0 a game and was a consistent athletic threat. Belhumeur led Federal Way to a perfect 16-0 record in the SPSL South and tallied a career-high 20 points in a West Central/Southwest District Tournament opening win over Skyview on Feb. 18.
Like her four other teammates, Belhumeur was a first-team, All-SPSL South Division selection by the league’s coaches.
Brittany Barrington, Federal Way
The 5-foot-6 guard ended her illustrious career at Federal Way by being named 4A first-team, All-Tournament in the Tacoma Dome. Barrington scored 40 points in the Eagles’ three games, including 17 each in Federal Way’s wins over Mount Rainier and Chiawana.
During the regular season, Barrington was named first-team, All-SPSL South Division after averaging 10.9 points. She also missed the first 10 games of the year after a knee injury.
Shyla Akins, Beamer
The Titan senior guard had another solid season, leading Beamer into the postseason for the first time in the school’s history. The Titans finished 13-10 overall and Akins led the team at 16.2 points a game, which was second-best in the SPSL South. She was a second-team, All-SPSL South selection.
Akins scored in double figures in every game, except one for Beamer. She tallied 20 or more points in four games, including a career-high 23 during a win over Rogers on Dec. 17.
Meghan Graf, Beamer
The 6-foot-1 Graf was the Titans’ inside force this season.
The junior averaged 15.1 points a game and scored in double digits in 17 of 20 games during the regular season. Graf had 20 or more points in four games, including a career-high 23 in a Jan. 21 win over Bethel.
