Kudos to Judge Larson
I attended a civil marriage ceremony at Federal Way City Hall last Saturday.
Attendees were met at the door by Judge David Larson, who made a point of greeting us as we entered. Before beginning the ceremony, he spoke briefly on the workings of the city’s court system and gave a quick overview of the city.
He then performed one of the most personable and enjoyable wedding services I’ve ever attended. Judge Larson is a wonderful ambassador for our city, and next election, it will be great to personally know a little about the judge I’ll be voting for.

Straight talk on gay marriage
I resent Donn Porter referring to my person with the likes of the Nazis, Ku Klux Klan and skinheads (letters to the editor, Dec. 10). He has his opinion and I have mine. But don’t compare me to those organizations.
If this person has a problem with the Washington State Constitution, then go to Olympia when in session and introduce a bill to change it. But to call me part of these organizations is like a slap in my face for my opinion and beliefs.
Mr. Porter, you stepped over the line of my constitutional rights. So back off. FYI: There is a member of my immediate family who has been in a homosexual relationship for over 40 years. These two people do not believe in “same-sex marriage.” They have bought homes, cars and property, as a couple, here in Washington and in California. They also have many of the same rights as a heterosexual couple. They have both worked into retirement, have their own medical and share living expenses. They know they are loved by their family, but don’t expect us to have it shoved down our throats.
Those like Mr. Porter should get a reality check because people of same-sex partnerships have more rights as a couple than a lot of heterosexual couples. Check it out.
