Following is a sample from the Federal Way police log:
• Assault on mall security: At 12:39 p.m. May 15 at 1928 S. Commons, a man assaulted a mall security officer after he was scolded for consuming beverages out of the trash can in front of a mall entrance. The subject threw iced coffee at the officer.
• Aggressive panhandling: At 1:14 p.m. May 15 at Enchanted Parkway and 16th Avenue South, a person was arrested and released with a court date for panhandling.
• Mail theft: At 10:47 a.m. May 15 in the 1000 block of South 299th Place, a woman reported her and her neighbors’ mail had possibly been stolen. A suspicious vehicle was seen in the area.
• Abandoned vehicle: At 6:33 a.m. May 15 at 32730 17th Ave. S.W., it was reported that a vehicle was driven past the sidewalk at Alderbrook Park and was stuck. The vehicle was abandoned.
• Fight: At 7:08 p.m. May 16 in the 29400 block of Pacific Highway South, officers were dispatched to a fight between four subjects. A crowbar and baseball bat were used in the fight. One man suffered injuries to his thumb and was taken to Harborview Medical Center for surgery on it.
• Mysterious bullet holes: At 1:09 p.m. May 16 in the 200 block of Southwest 319th Lane, an apartment resident reported hearing a gunshot and finding bullet holes in her apartment walls. Police found the gunshot came from a neighbor’s residence. The neighbor reported nobody should have been inside the apartment. The Valley SWAT team responded and located a rifle, but no suspects.
• Possible overdose: At 8:16 a.m. May 16 in the 33400 block of 38th Avenue South, police responded to a call and found a victim unconscious. Police suspect the person may have overdosed on Oxycontin and alcohol. The person was transported to St. Francis Hospital.
• Wrong-way driver: At 11:06 p.m. May 17 at 33600 Pacific Highway South, police observed a driver traveling north on Pacific Highway South, cross over the center divider and into southbound traffic. The motorist continued driving into oncoming traffic before performing a U-turn.
• Money-making scheme: At 12:16 p.m. May 17 at 1701 S. Commons, a man stole $190.97 worth of perfume. He told police he planned to sell the merchandise.
