At the all-city swim meet Oct. 22 inside the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center, the Thomas Jefferson Raiders were named champions of Federal Way, narrowly beating Decatur by just nine points, 150-141. Federal Way High School finished third (96) and Todd Beamer High School brought up the tail end with 47.
Thomas Jefferson recorded 150 points, winning seven of the 11 races at the swim meet. For the Raiders, Ang Ng won the 100 yard butterfly, 100 yard backstroke, and was a part of both winning relays (200 med, 400 free).
Despite finishing with 45 points less than Decatur, Federal Way won just as many races as the Gators. The Jolley sisters, Samantha and Alexis, both won a race for the Eagles at all-city. Alexis won the 500-yard freestyle by 21 seconds over the next closest swimmer. Samantha just narrowly beat Molly Burt in the 100-yard breaststroke with a winning margin of 0.56 of a second.
Decatur got most of their points by placing inside the top three. Decatur had 15 swimmers finish inside the top three across the 11 events, by far the most of any team: Thomas Jefferson (11), Federal Way (6) and Todd Beamer (1).
All the swimmers turn their eyes to the NPSL league swim meet, before taking on the district challenge and then state at the same venue.
