Stolen vehicle: A juvenile was seen driving a stolen vehicle on video. At around 9:20 a.m. police arrested her, but a passenger in the vehicle jumped into the driver’s seat and drove off with it. The original suspect attempted to flee on foot and was being chased by an additional stolen vehicle. The juvenile was ultimately booked into Seattle Children’s Hospital for suicidal ideation after being rejected at the juvenile facility.

Drive-by shooting: At approximately 4:50 p.m., officers responded to a drive-by shooting from one vehicle toward another near the 1200 block of South 320th Street. No victims ultimately came forward, but police did recover a single shell casing in the roadway.

Purse and criminal citation left behind: A woman left her bag behind after being stopped at a Safeway for an attempted shoplift. The bag didn’t contain any merchandise, but did contain a criminal citation, although the police report states that the ownership of the bag could not be confirmed.

Bookstore robbery: The manager of the Barnes and Noble was assaulted at approximately 7:45 p.m. when she tried to stop two shoplifters. The incident is documented as being a robbery with “other weapon.”

April 25

Gas pump: A red vehicle ran off with a fuel pump at approximately midnight at a gas station located at the 1600 block of Southwest Dash Point Road. The incident caused about $500 worth of damage and occurred when the driver neglected to remove the pump from their car before driving away.

Knife pointed: At approximately 8 a.m., a suspect pointed a knife at a victim after a suspected shoplift near the 31000 block of Pacific Highway South.

Medical supplies stolen: An unknown suspect reportedly stole a laptop and a nebulizer for asthma treatment out of a rental car sometime between 5 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. near the 31900 block of Gateway Center Boulevard South. The passenger rear side window of the rental car was broken during the theft.

April 26

Reckless burning: Officers responded to a report of an unwanted subject at approximately 6:45 p.m. near the 31900 block of Gateway Center Boulevard. Upon arrival, they determined probable cause for reckless burning.

Police impersonator: Officers received a report stating that an individual wearing a police badge who appeared to be transient had been knocking on doors asking for money. The incident has occurred twice this month, according to the reporting party. The individual who reported it didn’t identify a specific crime, but reported it due to the suspicious nature of the police jacket as described.

April 27

Car deal: A private car dealer sold a vehicle to an individual who then had it registered in their name. The same private dealer then returned to the new owner’s home and stole the vehicle with a spare key. The report includes that a vehicle was recovered.

Gas theft: At approximately 1:40 a.m., officers were dispatched over the theft of fuel from a vehicle. The individual admitted to stealing the gas once confronted by police and was arrested.

Customer steals car: After feigning interest in purchasing a vehicle at approximately 4:40 p.m. from the Jet Chevrolet lot near the 35700 block of Enchanted Parkway South, the supposed customer stole a used vehicle.

April 28

There were at least 3 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day and 3 vehicles were recovered.

Fight over gold chain: Officers responded to a fight in progress at a residential location in an apartment complex. When they arrived, they witnessed two males locked in a fight on the ground. One had a cut on their head and the other held a piece of metal. After breaking up the fight, the injured party stated that the suspect stole his gold chain then continued to hit him. When he stopped, the victim of the robbery followed the suspect and the two continued to fight until the police arrived.

Chef’s knives stolen: Sometime between midnight and 6 a.m., approximately $1,000 worth of chef knives and accessories in a backpack were stolen out of a vehicle. The theft occurred near the 31600 block of Pacific Highway South.

Vehicle vs. bicycle collision: A felony hit and run occurred at approximately 11:50 a.m. near the intersection of 288th Street and Pacific Highway South. No further details were included except that the hit and run was a vehicle vs. a bicyclist.

April 29

There were at least 11 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day and 3 vehicles were recovered.

Vehicle fire: At approximately 2 a.m., officers were dispatched to an apartment complex off of Southwest Campus Drive for a vehicle fire. Officers set up a perimeter and South King Fire responded to extinguish the vehicle.

Shoplift turns violent: Officers responded to a physical altercation between a shoplifter and a store employee around noon. The employee had taken the shoplifter’s personal bag, and when the shoplifter took it back, the employee struck first. Probable cause for third-degree theft was determined for the shoplifter, but they did not want to cooperate in the consideration of assault/disorderly charges against the employee.

Reckless driving: A reporting party called police to notify them of a car that was swerving from lane to lane and speeding. Upon investigation, officers contacted the owner of the vehicle, who helped them contact his son who was driving the vehicle. The son apologized and stated he would stop driving recklessly.

April 30

There were at least 10 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day.

School bomb threat: Police responded to a bomb threat delivered by telephone to a school located near the 35100 block of 5th Avenue Southwest. Police did not observe anything suspicious inside or outside the school building, but stayed at the school campus with increased presence throughout the rest of the day.

Burglar leaves items: An unoccupied apartment was broken into via a broken window near a sliding glass door. No damage was reported other than the window, but some clothes and blankets were left behind.

Robbery with axe: At approximately 4:30 p.m., a gas station near the 27200 block of Pacific Highway South was robbed by an individual with an axe. The suspect was located in Kent and arrested.
