Parks Appreciation Day: From 9 a.m. to noon April 20, choose a location to volunteer at a park in Federal Way. This event is dedicated to enhancing and maintaining the beauty of local parks. Rain or shine. Park Site 1: Brooklake Blueberry Farm, located at 726 S. 356th Street. Park Site 2: Saghalie Park, located at 33914 19th Ave SW. What to Bring: Participants are advised to bring gloves, wear sturdy shoes, and dress in clothes that they don’t mind getting dirty. While tools will be available, organizers are requesting participants to bring extra shovels, gloves, clippers and wheelbarrows.

I’m Hooked Fishing Event: From 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 4, head to Steel Lake Park to spend the day outdoors (rain or shine), engage in angler education, fishing and health and wellness activities in partnership with the Federal Way Parks Department and the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. This is a rain or shine event. Dress in layers and dress for the weather. Community mentors will help guide your child and family in the art of fishing, nature, health and wellness.
Clothing swap: Get rid of your adult seasonally appropriate spring/summer clothing, accessories and shoes via dropoff between 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Saturday, or Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. leading up to the clothing swap. All items must be donated by May 3. To pick up some new clothing, head to the Federal Way South King Tool Library location between 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 4 and pick up some new additions to your wardrobe for free at 1700 S. 340th Place, Federal Way.

Historic cabins open for visitors: Between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. May 11, head over to entrance to the Hylebos Wetlands at 411 S. 348th St. to gain access to the historic Barker and Denny cabins via the Federal Way Historical Society. The buildings have historic artifacts relevant to the time period in which they were used and represent and important part of local history.
