Black History Month Event:

From 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Feb. 24, Federal Way High School will host a Black History Month Event at 30611 16th Ave South, Federal Way. The event is produced by Young Black Leaders and sponsored by AYDEPI and will feature Seattle’s 10th Calvary Buffalo Soldiers, College/ Career Opportunity Resource Fair, Black and African Vendors, Film Screenings and entertainment and a keynote by Delbert Richardson. The main event is free.

Mud Bay Meet and Greet:

From 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 25, stop by Mud Bay at 1706 S. 320th St. in Federal Way to meet and greet with retired racing greyhound breed ambassadors. Ask questions to volunteers and get hugs and kisses from the dogs.

Last of the Dragons by Centerstage:

From 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 25, presented by Centerstage Theatre at 3200 SW Dash Point Road, this live performance is intended for a young audience and tickets are $15 per person. It is adapted from the story by Edith Nesbit. “The Last of the Dragons” tells a tale of bravery, intelligence, and unexpected friendship. Visit centerstagetheatre.com.

FWPS Board Meeting:

Join the School Board for a meeting via Zoom or in person at 6 p.m. Feb. 27 at Enterprise Elementary, 35101 5th Ave. SW, Federal Way.

Comprehensive Plan Open House:

Head to City Hall from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Feb. 29 to participate in an open house on the city’s update to the comprehensive plan through 2024. Come and learn about changes related to downtown planning, south station subarea planning, transportation and mobility, climate change and resiliency, and community services.

Green it Up:

From 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. March 5, next to South King Tool Library at 1700 S 340th St., Federal Way, a fun and hands-on learning experience can help folks understand how much waste and harmful chemicals they make in their daily lives. The program will include discussions on good habits, eco-friendly cleaning, the right way to recycle, being careful about what we buy, and ways to make less waste. Best of Federal Way 2024 celebration:

Join the Mirror at our annual celebration of the best restaurants, businesses, volunteers and more and meet local vendors on March 6 at the Federal Way Community Center, 876 South 336th Street, Federal Way. Booths open at 5:30 p.m. for mixing and mingling, and award presentation and prize drawings will start at 6:45 p.m. After the event, readers can look for a special section inside the print edition of the Federal Way Mirror for a list of this year’s winners.

Senior Commission Connection:

Join the Senior Commission at the Federal Way Community Center to hear about community resources and events and connect with other seniors in Federal Way. Event is March 20 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Senior Lounge.

March of Diapers Drive:

Saturday, March 23, at Twin Lakes Fred Meyer from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The effort, hosted annually by local nonprofit Do The Right Thing, distributes baby and adult hygiene products to nearly two dozen organizations and nonprofits across the region, helping keep families stocked.

70th Anniversary for the Federal Way Lions Club:
