Suspect threatens officers with flare gun | Federal Way Police Blotter

Following is a sample from the Federal Way police log from Sept. 27-Oct. 3.

Sept. 27

There were at least 8 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day.

Assault with a firearm: Around 4:15 a.m., officers responded to a report of shots fired in a drive-by and a male shot inside the home near the 28800 block of 23rd Avenue South. Suspects fled the area prior to officer arrival.

Nonresidential burglary: At approximately 8 a.m. in the 32400 block of Pacific Highway South, an officer responded to a commercial alarm to find that someone had made a forced entry and taken items.

Threats with a knife: Officers responded to a report of a threat with a knife around 6 p.m. near the 34500 block of 16th Avenue South. The suspect was gone on arrival.

Residential burglary: Officers responded to a caller around 9:45 p.m. near the 32500 block of 2oth Court Southwest who stated that their mother’s residence was broken into while they were home. The officer noted a glass door that was shattered.

Sept. 28

There were at least 6 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day.

Assault with firearm: Around 11:45 p.m. on Pacific Highway South, a victim reported that he was in a parking lot when a suspect approached him and demanded that he open the door. The victim did not comply and fled the scene. The suspect followed the victim and fired two rounds, but the victim was able to flee and contact law enforcement safely.

Reckless burning: Officers arrested a suspect for reckless burning around 1:40 p.m. after responding to reports of a fire in the 28800 block of Military Road South.

Shoplifting: A suspect slipped and dropped a car battery on his head as he was stealing it from a business on Pacific Highway South around 1 p.m.

Robbery with firearm: At around 8:30 p.m. it the 28100 block of 18th Avenue South, a victim reported being robbed at gunpoint.

Sept. 29

There were at least 3 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day.

Collison while intoxicated: An intoxicated man was reported to have driven his vehicle into another vehicle in a parking lot around 1:30 a.m. near the 28600 block of Pacific Highway South.

School fights: There were 2 responses to physical altercations at Todd Beamer High School on this day.

Sept. 30

There were at least 11 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day.

Racial slurs: Officers responded to a 911 call of two people in a dispute. The white individual involved was calling the Black individual racial slurs. No crimes were established.

House damage: A reporting party informed officers that two of their exterior windows in the front of their home near the 30800 block of 22nd Avenue South was damaged by what appeared to be a bb/pellet gun, reporting about $3,000 in damage.

Threats with a weapon: Officers were dispatched to a report of a threat with a pellet gun around 10 p.m. near the 2500 block of South 286th Place. Upon arriving they located the suspect, who verbally threatened to harm officers with the weapon (a flare gun), then pointed it at them. Officers initially attempted verbal de-escalation and ultimately used a taser to apprehend and arrest the individual.

Oct. 1

There were at least 10 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day.

Armed robbery: A victim reported being robbed around midnight near the 28700 block of Military Road South.

Oct. 2

There were at least 9 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day.

Shoplifting: An unidentified person took five pairs of jeans (approximately $275 value) from a business located in the 32000 block of Pacific Highway South around 11:45 a.m. Live tracking was provided for the jeans, but officers did not pursue outside the city due to other priorities at the time.

Residential burglary: An officer was dispatched to a report of a burglary that occurred sometime within the last six weeks. The owner pointed out a sliding glass door with scratch marks and possible boot prints on the floor as well as items that had been moved and rummaged through.

Oct. 3

There were at least 7 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day.

Assault: At approximately 4 a.m. at a townhome complex on Southwest Campus Drive, officers responded to a verbal argument over a broken window and previous assault on the resident.

Nonresidential burglary: An unknown suspect entered a business on the 33700 block of 9th Avenue South sometime between 9:29 a.m. and 3 p.m. and stole various items.

Residential burglary: At approximately 10:30 a.m., a victim reported a residential burglary near the 30100 block of 16th Avenue Southwest.

Nonresidential burglary and vehicle theft: A suspect broke into a business via keys they stole from a nearby lockbox, stole multiple items from the business, then located another lockbox inside containing more keys and used these to steal two vehicles. The incident occurred sometime between 8 p.m. Oct. 2 and 8:50 a.m. Oct. 3 at a business near the 33700 block of 9th Avenue South.

Nonresidential burglary: Sometime between midnight and 9:30 a.m., a cold burglary was reported on the 34700 block of Pacific Highway South.
