Aug. 9
There were at least 8 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day. There were also at least 2 reports of burglary.
Commercial burglary: A smoke and vape shop located at the 32400 block of Pacific Highway South was broken into. Storefront was damaged and several items were stolen around 2:45 a.m.
Firearm assault: A victim reported that after confronting a young teen who appeared to be attempting to steal their car, the teen threatened to shoot them and used profanity. Late afternoon. 33700 block of 1st Place South at around 3:30 p.m. (2 days prior).
Property theft: A woman recently reported a lost passport and green card. She has since been contacted by someone via a Facebook group who claims to have the lost items, but would only return them if paid $500. When refused, she blocked the victim, and police were not initially able to reach the individual from the Facebook group via phone.
Carjacking: A victim stated that their vehicle was stolen at gunpoint at approximately 10 p.m. at the 12500 block of Southwest Campus Drive. Police have established probable cause for first degree robbery.
Aug. 10
There were at least 6 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day and at least one incident of burglary.
Person with knife: A subject armed with a knife initially refused to leave a business at 1:50 p.m. at the 35500 block of Pacific Highway South. He was eventually persuaded to leave the store and was handcuffed and booked after police used containment, time, distance and shielding to negotiate with him.
Aug. 11
There were at least 4 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day and at least one incident of burglary.
Punched: A self-checkout cashier was punched in the back of the head at 9:30 p.m. at a business on 35400 block of Enchanted Parkway. The cashier was evaluated and cleared by South King Fire and Rescue, and the suspect was apprehended and booked after being positively identified by a witness.
Conflict at LA Fitness: A female was using a treadmill that is reserved for elderly and disabled patrons via a sticker on the equipment when an elderly man became upset. The female called police to report that he was harassing her and had unplugged the treadmill while she was on it. She began to record him and the elderly man knocked the phone out of her hand.
Theft: A trailer and van have reportedly been stolen from the lot of a vehicle rental company on the 35200 block of Enchanted Parkway South.
Aug. 12
There were at least 2 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day.
Vehicle theft: At around 5 p.m. in the 2200 block of South 333rd Street, a man had the hood of his car up and his back toward the sidewalk as he checked the fluids. An unknown person then entered the vehicle and drove away, with the hood still up.
Aug. 13
There were at least 9 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day and at least one incident of burglary.
Road rage: A road rage incident was reported at the 35200 block of 21st Avenue SW. The reporting party stated that an apple was thrown at his vehicle
Theft: Catalytic converter reporter was stolen in the 31700 block of Gateway Center Boulevard at about 9 p.m.
Aug. 14
There were at least 5 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day and at least one incident of burglary. At least one incident of theft from a motor vehicle also occurred.
Assault: Simple assault at the 1100 block of South 322nd Place at 8:21 a.m. A male punched a customer at the location after being asked to leave. No complaint of pain or visible injury to the customer. Suspect was located and arrested.
Shoplifting: According to an online report from a citizen, a man entered the back room of a retail business on the 28800 block of Military Road South and stole 15-20 bottles of liquor at 5 p.m.
Aug. 15
There were at least 5 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day.
Fire: A fire encompassed a 20-x-20-foot area of brush occurred in the recently cleared woods on the east side of Pacific Highway South near 20th Avenue South at about 12:30 a.m. The fire was put out.
Commercial burglary: Glass was broken and a suspect was at first believed to be inside at the 1600 block of South 341st Place at 6 a.m., but the location was cleared with the assistance of a K9 unit.
