Following is a sample from the Federal Way police log:
• Intriguing letter: At 8:44 a.m. Dec. 11 at 30611 16th Ave. S., Federal Way High School administration reported a letter from an unknown person. The letter said an individual living in Morton, Wash., could be a suspect in a decades-old homicide that took place at the high school. Police were unable to locate the subject and took possession of the letter.
• Confiscated: At 10:50 a.m. Dec. 14 at 1101 S. Dash Point Road, pipes and marijuana were confiscated by school personnel from a student. Police were called to take possession of the evidence.
• Recovered vehicle: At 6:04 a.m. Dec. 14 in the 2100 block of Southwest 352nd Street, a stolen vehicle was discovered.
• Close call: At 9:53 p.m. Dec. 16 in the 3800 block of South 325th Street, a person reported hearing a loud noise on the rooftop. The subject went outside and saw a shining flashlight in the backyard. A vehicle was seen speeding away from the residence.
• Escape warrant: At 6:30 p.m. Dec. 16 at 31621 23rd Ave. S., a suspect was contacted for smoking at the Federal Way Transit Center. A records check revealed the suspect had an outstanding Department of Corrections escape warrant for her arrest.
• Stolen cabbie gear: At 5:20 a.m. Dec. 16 in the 35800 block of 16th Avenue South, a victim reported an unknown suspect broke the window of his or her leased cab and stole approximately $4,850 worth of equipment.
• Threats: At 11:34 p.m. Dec. 17 in the 31800 block of 49th Terrace Southwest, a suspect threatened to kill a victim and his or herself with a knife. The suspect was taken to the hospital for a mental evaluation.
• Theft victim is arrested: At 11:56 p.m. Dec. 17 in the 31800 block of Pacific Highway South, a subject called to report a theft. The subject had an active felony warrant out of Idaho and was arrested.
