Smoke shop robbery: At about 9:55 a.m. near the 32900 block of 1st Avenue South, a smoke shop was robbed by two male suspects with firearms. One female suspect remained in the driver’s seat of a stole white Hyundai. A similar crime occurred in Renton just prior to the Federal Way robbery and involved the same vehicle.
Bank robbery: At about 1:15 p.m. near the 34600 block of Pacific Highway South, a bank was robbed. The suspect entered the bank and gave the teller a note demanding cash. The suspect was caught on surveillance video.
April 13
There were at least 7 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day.
Kidnapping scam: At about 3:40 p.m. near the 35500 block of Pacific Highway South, a victim was almost scammed out of $10,000 when “kidnappers” claimed they had his wife held hostage.
Purse stolen: At about 9:45 p.m. near the 32000 block of Pacific Highway South, a person’s purse was stolen from her in the parking lot and she was punched in the face.
Inappropriate relationship: At about 4:10 p.m. near Campus Woods, a mother returned home to find a 19-year-old man in a relationship with her 13-year-old daughter.
April 14
There were at least 3 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day.
Knife-wielding suspect: At about 3:15 p.m. near the 31700 block of Pacific Highway South, officers responded to reports of a threat with a knife. A female suspect slashed the tire of a nearby vehicle and then swung the same knife at another person. No injuries. The suspect was booked into jail.
Slingshot suspect: At about 5:45 p.m. near the 35600 block of Pacific Highway South, it was reported that a man in a Honda Pilot was using a slingshot to shoot marbles at cars.
April 15
There were at least 6 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day.
Pointed pistol: At about 6:20 p.m. near the 34600 block of 14th Place SW, a person reported that while she was sitting in her car talking to a friend, a vehicle pulled up next to her and the driver pointed a black pistol at her.
April 16
There were at least 6 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day.
Runaway child: At about noon near SW Campus Drive, an 8-year-old ran away from her mother while the mother was bringing groceries inside. The mom followed the child but lost sight of her near an intersection. Another family brought the child to Taco Bell, bought her food, and called 911. The child was reunited with her mother shortly after.
April 17
There was at least one report of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day.
Suspects in stolen car: At about 2:45 a.m. near the 1800 block of South 285th Place, officers located a man driving a stolen vehicle with a female passenger. The officers attempted to stop the vehicle, which attempted to flee. The vehicle then got stuck on an embankment and the driver ran away on foot. The man was located by a K9 track in the woods and taken into custody. The female passenger was arrested on pre-existing warrants. Both the driver and the passenger were booked into jail.
Assault: At about 11:58 a.m. near the 1300 block of SW 320th Street, a victim reported he was assaulted, threatened with a knife and then had his phone stolen.
April 18
There was at least one report of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day.
Arson in parking lot: At about 4:$0 a.m. near the 1900 block of South 314th Street, officers and firefighters responded to a fire in a business parking lot. Officers found several pallets of rubbish lit on fire. A county fire investigator said the fire was arson.
At about 4:30 p.m. near the 30600 block of 16th Avenue South, several students reported being robbed of belongings in a restroom at Federal Way High School.
