Residential burglary: A victim reported that two known people entered her apartment in the 4900 block of SW 319th Lane, several minutes after midnight, and struck her head with a pistol, causing a laceration on her head and nose. She was taken to a hospital.
Commercial burglary: Multiple people backed a car up to the entryway of a shop in the morning at the 31000 block of 21st Place SW, and one passenger used gloves and a punch to pop a window open. The man pried at a cashbox but failed to enter it, fleeing instead with a shop phone and a coat.
Victim targeted again at the courthouse: While waiting for a court appearance in Federal Way around 2 p.m., a person stole the purse of a woman who was at the courthouse to testify in a case where she was already a victim. The theft was captured on court security cameras.
Homicide investigation: Several callers reported sounds of an illegal discharge at the 1900 block of SW Campus Drive around 10 p.m. Officers found a victim lying down next to a vehicle with at least two bullet wounds. Life saving efforts were unsuccessful.
March 16

Store robbery: Five young men, likely teenagers, entered a store in the 1700 block of S 356th Street in the early morning hours, one of them pointing a pistol at an employee demanding money from the store tills. They stole around $200 in cash and several tobacco items prior to leaving in a white Kia Soul. They struck another vehicle while fleeing, leaving behind a license plate, and the vehicle was later recovered by police.
Fight at Decatur: A school resource officer responded to a fight during lunch at Decatur High School in which students had a dispute that came to blows. One person sustained minor injuries, and family members of one person came and allegedly threatened to assault a number of staff members. Those family members were escorted from the building.

Small fortune of hair dryers stolen: About $1,500 worth of hairdryers and flat irons where reported stolen from a location in the 1300 block of South 324th Street in the early afternoon. The suspect drove away in an early 2000s red Toyota Corolla. Man assaulted: Active officers around 1:40 a.m. saw a stumbling naked man who was bleeding from the head in the 27000 block of Pacific Highway S. They learned he was severely intoxicated and had been assaulted. Officers found video footage showing four young men assaulting the victim and leaving just before officers arrived.
One arrested, one fled from burglary: Officers responded to S 333rd Lane in the early evening to a reported residential burglary in progress. They found two suspects matching a description of the burglars. The woman suspect was captured and taken into custody, while a male suspect got away.
March 20

Say it, don’t spray it: Costco employees called the police in the late morning to report a woman had spit on an employee. The woman was found and would not comply with police; she was ultimately arrested, cited and released.
Theft from car: An unknown person broke into a car window in a parking lot the 35000 block of Enchanted Parkway S around 7 p.m. and stole a backpack containing several items.
March 21
At least 6 reports were taken of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft this day.
Arson: There were no reported injuries from an arson outside of O’Reilly’s Auto Parts in the 32000 block of Pacific Highway S. The arson occurred sometime roughly around 3 a.m.
Belligerent parent prompts lockdown at FWHS: A mutual fright broke out around 2 p.m. at Federal Way High School. While the fight was under investigation, a parent of one of the juveniles came to the campus after making veiled threats to staff over the phone. When they attempted to get inside the building, the school went on lock down.
Assault on the school bus: A reporting party told police that her son had been punched twice in the head by another kid on the school bus in the morning on their way to Lakegrove Elementary. Her son fought at the back of the bus and was slapped in the face, leaving a red mark.
