Decatur High School sophomore Katie Estrada Alvarez, cross country, is the Federal Way Mirror Female Athlete of the Week for Nov. 11.
Q: What is your favorite subject/class in school?
A: My favorite subject is science.
Q: What hobbies do you enjoy outside of your sport?
A: I like to draw and spend time with family/friends.
Q: Who is the person in your life that has helped you succeed the most?
A: Both my mom and my dad have helped me succeed the most.
Q: If you could have dinner with anyone (living or from the past), who would it be?
A: My uncle and two cousins who are no longer alive.
Q: Describe your pre-game ritual:
A: I listen to music then rush to put my shoes on.

From the sidelines: Sophomore Katie Estrada Alvarez participated in the West Central District Cross Country Championship meet finishing the 4A girls 5K race with a time of 20:38.6 to earn a spot in the WIAA State Championship meet. She placed 118th out of 150 runners in the WIAA 4A State Girls Cross Country race. This season she earned her second Varsity Letter award in Cross Country. Katie has also been outstanding in the classroom earning a 3.875 cumulative Grade Point Average. She has excelled in her favorite subject science, completing two Advanced Placement courses.
