Man points gun at boy over ‘ding-dong ditch’ prank | Police blotter

Following is a sample from the Federal Way police log April 28 to May 4.

April 28

Gunshots heard: At about 1:05 a.m. near the 100 block of SW Campus Drive, apartment residents reported hearing several gunshots near one of the buildings. An officer arrived on the scene and checked the area. The officer found three bullet casings, but there was no other evidence of a shooting. No surveillance cameras in the area.

Gas tank drilled: At about 7:21 a.m. near the 2100 block of SW 344th Street, a person parked at the Park and Ride lot yesterday and they discovered an unknown suspect drilled the gas tank of his truck. The damage is estimated to be approximately $1,500. No suspect information.

April 29

Parking lot dispute: At about 8:58 a.m. near the 31200 block of Pete von Reichbauer Way South, a person reported being assaulted by an unknown male after a verbal altercation in the parking lot. The man said the suspect became agitated with him after he spoke to the suspect about damaging his vehicle when the suspect parked too close. The man has no visible injuries and did not need medical attention. There were no witnesses.

April 30

Burglary: At about 5:16 p.m. near the 500 block of South 323rd Place, officers responded to a residential burglary in progress at an apartment complex. Upon arrival, officers saw the homeowner and witnesses detaining the suspect. The suspect was arrested and booked into jail. An involved female suspect was not located.

May 1

Gun pointed at boy: At about 5:19 p.m. near the 27300 block of 24th Place South, a boy reported that a few days prior, an unknown man pointed a firearm at him and accused him of “ding-dong ditching” his condo. Police are investigating.

May 2

Stolen vehicle on fire: At about 9 a.m. near the 1200 block of South 320th Street, South King Fire and Rescue crews extinguished a vehicle fire in the Safeway parking lot. The vehicle was a recovered stolen vehicle, but the damage resulted in a total loss.

Woman assaulted: At about 7 p.m. near the 3000 block of 22nd Lane South, a woman reported a known suspect struck her in the face and pointed a handgun at her.

Driver assaulted: At about 9:24 p.m. near the 33500 block of Pacific Highway South, a person gave two unknown suspects a ride to the mall in exchange for gas money. The suspects assaulted the person, causing visible injuries, and stole the contents of his wallet. The suspects fled on foot and were not located.

May 3

Apartment arson: At about 5:47 p.m. near the 29600 block of 18th Avenue South, police responded to a structure fire at an apartment complex. A man was arrested for first-degree arson and domestic violence and booked into jail. The impacted family was relocated by the red cross due to fire damage to the apartment. No other residents were displaced.

May 4

Person robbed: At about 8:07 p.m. near the 1600 block of South 324th Street, a person was assaulted and robbed of her headphones, cellphone, and bus pass. The person did not know the suspect. The suspect was not located.
