$35K stolen from local HOA bank account | Police blotter

Following is a sample from the Federal Way police log Jan. 19-25.

Jan. 19

Stolen car: At about 6 p.m. near the 2000 block of S. Commons, a girl parked her car near The Commons mall while she went to work. When she returned around 11:30 p.m., she discovered her vehicle had been stolen.

Jan. 20

JP’s vandalized: At about 5:18 a.m. near the 32900 block of 1st Avenue South, officers responded to an alarm at JP’s Tavern. The officer discovered that a window had been broken with a rock, but the business did not appear to have been rummaged through. No suspects or witnesses identified.

Jan. 21

Domestic violence: At about 2:21 p.m. near the 34500 block of 9th Avenue South, police responded to St. Francis Hospital for a man choking a woman. It was discovered the two people were a couple. The boyfriend was arrested and booked for second-degree domestic violence assault.

Knife in park: At about 5:56 p.m. near the 100 block of South 339th Court, police were called for an assault with a knife at a local park. Two younger boys were playing at the park when two older boys approached them. One of the older boys tried to fight them, but the younger boys ran away. The boys stated they saw a knife fall out of one of the older boy’s pockets. No suspects at this time.

Shoplifter pulls knife: At about 8:52 p.m. near the 1900 block of South 314th Street, a man who was shoplifting pulled a knife out toward a loss prevention employee.

Jan. 22

Slashed tires: At about 2:30 a.m. near the 35600 block of 13th Avenue SW, an ex-boyfriend slashed the tires of his ex-girlfriend’s vehicle. Suspect gone upon police arrival.

Theft at Home Goods: At about 3 p.m. near the 1700 block of South 320th Street, a suspect stole from the Home Goods store then a weapons offense occurred.

Jan. 23

HOA funds stolen: At about 1:30 p.m. near the 32800 block of 20th Avenue South, an HOA president reported an unknown suspect stole $35,000 from the HOA’s bank account. The bank investigated and was able to restore the funds. No suspect information yet.

Jan. 24

Catalytic converter theft: At about 3:05 p.m. near the 30800 block of 8th Avenue South, it was reported that an unknown suspect stole the catalytic converter from a bus at the Boys and Girls Club.

Shots fired: At about 9:52 p.m. near the 1000 block of South 320th Street, a man was arguing with a woman before firing three gunshots at her vehicle. The man fled in a dark SUV and the woman fled in a dark sedan car. Involved parties unknown.

Jan. 25

Fight at school: At about 1:49 p.m. near the 30600 block of 16th Avenue South, two students got into a fight in a school restroom. The fight was supposed to be friendly, but things went too far. One of the involved students was taken to the ER by his parent for a medical evaluation after hitting his head on the restroom floor.
