Sound Transit to designate surplus properties along Federal Way Link Extension route to WSDOT

Public hearing scheduled for Feb. 3.

Sound Transit is soon designating 21 surplus properties in Des Moines and SeaTac to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

A virtual public hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 3. The surplus properties comprise portions of 27 tax parcels along the Federal Way Link Extension route and are located on unimproved land.

The hearing is held to notify the public and to receive public comment. The properties will be transferred to the Washington Department of Transportation (WSDOT) as part of a larger land exchange agreement, according to Sound Transit.

The Washington State Department of Transportation intends to use the property for expansion of State Route 509 and State Route 5.
