From staff reports:

Sept. 24 marks the annual Mayor’s Day of Concern for the Hungry, a citywide food drive designed to help support the Multi-Service Center’s Federal Way Food Bank. The city, beyond those two entities, is partnering with the Emergency Feeding Program of Seattle-King County to help those in need.

The food drive will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. with multiple collection locations available for those interested. Albertson’s, the 320th Safeway, both Wal-Mart locations (S. 314th and S. 348th streets), and the Twin Lakes Fred Meyer will all be taking cash and food donations on Sept. 24.

Last year, the Mayor’s Day of Concern collected 13,099 pounds of food, according to the city. Volunteers are needed. Contact Brook Lindquist at (253) 835-2401.
