A beloved gourmet burger restaurant is returning to Federal Way later this fall, according to the company.
Red Robin Gourmet Burgers and Brews closed its doors in July 2020 as the former S. 320th Street location sat directly in the path of the incoming Sound Transit light rail route to Tacoma.
Soon, Federal Way residents and campfire-sauce lovers from nearby communities can enjoy Red Robin once again.
Red Robin Gourmet Burgers is set to open in Federal Way in early November, according to a company spokesperson.
Losing the longtime favorite in 2020 was a tough bite for residents to swallow; the previous location opened in 1987 and provided more than just a good meal.
Many local residents fondly recalled their memories at the location when the Federal Way restaurant closed last year. High school football post-game feasts, theater production after parties, first dates, and family dinners were among the traditions.
The new location is at 31920 Gateway Center Blvd S. in Federal Way, which previously housed the RAM Restaurant and Brewery.
The Federal Way RAM closed on March 16, 2020, by order of the governor, according to Austin Iverson, a company spokesperson. It originally opened on July 23, 2012 and employed 51 individuals by the time of its closure last year.
“We enjoyed our time in Federal Way and hope to find a great future location,” Iverson said on behalf of the company.
