The City of Federal Way is offering residents a place to find relief in advance of forecasted high temperatures.
The Federal Way Community Center, located at 876 S. 333rd St., is available to escape from possible high temperatures until the forecasted high temperature situation has eased from Aug. 12-14.
The National Weather Service issued an excessive heat advisory with high humidity and temperatures in the 90s over the next several days.
During the forecasted period of possible extreme hot weather (Aug. 12-14), the Community Center will be open to all ages who need some air-conditioned relief. Weekday hours of operation are 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday; and 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday.
Non-member guests using the cooling center are reminded that special services will not be available (such as free use of the swimming pools, workout equipment, showers and other amenities).
Individuals may choose to purchase a day-use pass if interested in using building amenities. Restrooms will be available. No pets are allowed, except for service animals.
