Cowboy in the city: At about 8 a.m. near the 32065 block of Pacific Highway South, a man wearing a white cowboy style hat was carrying a big wooden stick. The man struck a person’s vehicle twice, causing damage to the vehicle’s hood, headlight and passenger side door. The suspect was not located.

Heated argument: At about 7:39 p.m. near the 3000 block of 29th Court SW, a husband and wife got into a heated argument over the current political climate and Covid-19 restrictions. During the argument, the husband flipped over the dining table and caused damaged to the table legs. The wife said her husband lost his job because of the pandemic and has been stressed and depressed over it. Case sent to prosecutor for review.

July 1

Sleepy suspect: At about 5:53 a.m. near the 28800 block of 23rd Place South, a male suspect attempted to steal a victim’s vehicle. The suspect was found asleep in the driver’s seat with burglary/prowling tools in his hands and lap. The suspect also had several shaved keys. The vehicle’s ignition was also damaged during the attempted theft. The suspect was detained.

Throwing punches: At about 9:45 a.m. near the 33000 block of 37th Court SW, a man punched his father-in-law in the eye. The man was arrested and booked into Kent City Jail.

Martial arts studio burglary: At about 11:10 a.m. near the 1500 block of S. 336th Street, an unknown suspect broke into the NW Phoenix Martial Arts studio. The suspect stole about $300 cash and an equipment bag containing sparring gear. The suspect was captured on video, but has not yet been located.

July 2

Apartment shooting: At about 9:52 a.m. near the 3000 block of 16th Avenue South, officers responded to a shooting into an occupied apartment. There were no injuries. It is unknown if the shots were intended for that unit. Police are gathering suspect information.

Chased with knife: At about 4:06 p.m. near the 30100 block of 2nd Place South, a man reported that another man had damaged his house and a vehicle in his driveway, then chased him with a knife. The subject did not wish to provide a statement and made contradictory statements about the suspect.

Boyfriend pulls gun on girlfriend: At about 4:55 p.m. near the 3000 block of 51st Lane SW, a boyfriend and girlfriend with children in common got into an argument about the boyfriend not providing for his family. The fight turned physical when the boyfriend pulled out a handgun, pointed it at the girlfriend’s head and said he would kill her and then himself.

Bullet holes: At about 6:18 p.m. near the 33400 block of 10th Court SW, officers responded to a malicious mischief call involving bullet holes at the listed location. A weapons offense report was taken. No suspect information.

Armed robbery: At about 8:42 p.m. near the 3000 block of 1st Avenue South, officers responded to reports of a recent robbery with a firearm. Probable cause was established for two boys.

July 3

Egged cars: At about 7:31 a.m. near the 27300 block of 23rd Avenue South, officers responded to a dispute. As officers were leaving, they noticed seven vehicles were spray painted and egged. No suspect information.

Hospital window broken: At about 3:19 p.m. near the 34709 block of 9th Avenue South, a property manager called to report they saw a man throw a rock into the window at the St. Francis Women’s Health building. The rock caused an estimated $3,000 of damage to the window. Suspect not located and identity unknown.

July 4

Firearm threat: At about 12:59 a.m. near the 1900 block of SW Campus Drive, a woman reported she was threatened by a suspect and a firearm was shown during the incident. The suspect left the scene in a vehicle prior to police arrival.

Knife threat: At about 7:40 a.m. near the 33480 block of 13th Place South, officers responded to a threat with a knife. Officers were able to locate and follow the suspect. Officers established probable cause for felony harassment and the suspect was detained without incident.

Similar collisions: At about 5:45 p.m. near the 29600 block of Pacific Highway South, two separate hit and run collisions were reported within a short time with the same suspect.

Man points knife at woman, steals her car: At about 5:56 p.m. near the 100 block of SW 312th Street, the victim was driving while the father of her children was in the passenger seat. He became angry and pulled out a folding knife, pointed it at the victim, and threatened to kill her if she didn’t do what he asked. The two returned to the victim’s residence. A few hours later, the victim drove the suspect to 7-Eleven and the suspect took her keys, then tried to lock her in the vehicle. The victim escaped and asked an employee to call 911. The suspect drove off.

July 5

Shots fired: At about 2:38 a.m. near the 30600 block of Pacific Highway South, an unknown man walked into the victim’s apartment and fired a gun multiple times. The victim sustained minor injuries. Suspect was gone before officers’ arrival.

Stolen suitcases: At about 12:19 p.m. near the 1819 block of S. Commons, an unknown suspect smashed the passenger rear window and stole two pieces of luggage from the backseat of a car. The luggage contained personal items and clothes worth about $250. No suspect or leads.
