Police find toddler in roadway | Federal Way Police Blotter

At 7:19 a.m. on Oct. 5 in the 32000 block of Pacific Highway S., a victim was found lying in an alley behind a business with head injuries.

The following is a sample from the Federal Way police log:

Pants-less man injured in alley: At 7:19 a.m. on Oct. 5 in the 32000 block of Pacific Highway S., a victim was found lying in an alley behind a business with head injuries. The victim was conscious and treated by firefighters at the scene. The victim had no pants or shoes on but his clothes were located nearby, soiled. There were also several empty bottles of alcohol nearby. When asked what happened, the victim said he was not injured and denied any assault.

Drive-by shooting: At 12:15 p.m. on Oct. 5 in the 2200 block of S. 344th St., two witnesses were attending to their storage spaces at Garage Town when they heard six to seven gunshots. One of the witnesses looked toward the east of the property and saw a newer model Nissan Altima speeding away from the dead end and turn around near 2200 S. 244th St. The witnesses were too far away to see inside the vehicle and could not see a license plate. The responding officer located an empty .40 caliber shell casings on the street near the north edge of the turn-around.

Man appears to be police officer: At 1:22 p.m. on Oct. 5 at the 4700 block of SW 320th St., a motorcyclist was stranded in the roadway and two good samaritans assisted to help. A red Ford Taurus pulled up with two flashing blue lights on the front bumper and a male driver exited. He had a handgun holstered to his hip and he kept his hand on the gun while he approached the motorist. The male behaved in a way that led the witness to think he was a police officer. When one of the samaritan’s husband arrived, the male got back into his vehicle and sped away.

Felon runs from police: At an unknown time on Oct. 4 in the 33200 block of Pacific Highway S., a man was arrested for second-degree assault, a weapons offense, a traffic offense, obstruction of justice and burglary.

Just before he was contacted by police, he tossed a stolen handgun. Police arrested him on a traffic stop but connected him to a previous assault. He ran from police and during his escape attempt he forced his way into a room at New Horizon Motel to elude capture. Police arrested the man and confirmed he is a convicted felon who cannot own or possess firearms. A handgun and ammunition were recovered from the scene.

Man arrested on warrant: At 11:45 p.m. on Oct. 4 in the 31600 block of Pacific Highway S., a man was arrested in the parking lot of Sleep Country USA. A name check through dispatch revealed he had a $5,000 warrant out of the Fife Police Department for indecent exposure. When officers began to detain him for the warrant, he resisted. The suspect was cleared by South King Fire and Rescue at the scene before he was booked into SCORE jail. Officers seized a backpack and knife.

Burglary at Rite Aid: At 2:10 a.m. on Oct. 4 in the 32000 block of Pacific Highway S., officers responded to an alarm call at Rite Aid. When they arrived, they saw a shattered, pushed in window leading to the pharmacy. A K-9 track was conducted but unsuccessful. Video surveillance shows an unknown man broke in and removed an unknown amount of cigarettes and fled out the fire exit.

Woman shoots ex-boyfriend: At 7 a.m. on Oct. 4 in the 34500 block of Ninth Ave. S., a woman shot her ex-boyfriend once in the torso and then drove him to St. Francis Hospital for treatment. Police determined the incident occurred in the city of Des Moines at the woman’s residence. Des Moines police have since taken over the investigation.

Toddler found in roadway: At 1:21 p.m. on Oct. 4 in the 200 block of S. Third St., an officer was dispatched to the roadway where he found a child who was approximately 18 months old. He located the mother a few houses down, who stated she was in the bathroom and other children who were about 10 years old were supposed to be watching her. No criminal charges were filed, however, the case was forwarded to Child Protective Services.

Fraudulent callers dupe elderly woman: At 7:47 p.m. on Oct. 4 in the 2600 block of S. 288th St., an elderly woman’s son reported that over the last several months, unknown suspects had been contacting her via phone claiming she owes them money in various amounts and requesting payments via Western Union. He said his mother will send payments and he estimates she’s paid around $50,000 out over the past several months.

Angry mother-in-law: At 11:25 p.m. on Oct. 4 in the 2200 block of SW 329th Place, a woman chased her son-in-law around the house with a kitchen knife. She was booked into jail without incident.

Puppy stolen from home: At 2 p.m. on Oct. 3 in the 32100 block of 20th Lane SW, a woman stated between 2 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. someone entered through an unsecured first floor sliding door and stole her Corgi mix puppy, worth approximately $300.

Man extorted by Skype sex video: At 12:45 a.m. on Oct. 2 in the 35900 block of 14th Place S., a victim used an instant messaging service to meet a female. According to the police report, the female suggested the use of Skype video messaging. The female sent a friend request on Facebook to verify the victim was an adult and then encouraged him to expose his genitals and masturbate over Skype. However, the female recorded it and then used the victim’s Facebook friend list to attempt to extort $400 from him via Money Gram and/or Western Union.
