Duane A. Warner was born April 23, 1933, in Titusville, PA to Harry and Beatrice Warner, and passed away on March 25, 2021.
Aftfter high school he worked on the PA railroad and then was drafted into the Army and stationed at Fort Lewis, WA, where he met and married Shirley Irish on July 1, 1955.
He worked as a mechanic at Lincoln-Mercury, and then at Federal Way Fire Dept., where he eventually became a battalion chief.
In his spare time he built and raced stock cars, winning many trophies. He joined Marine View Presbyterian Church where he taught classes for five years.
Aftfter retirement he and his wife spent 20 years as snowbirds between WA and Palm Springs, CA.
He never met a stranger, always had a smile, and was liked by all.
Preceding him in death were his brothers Harry, Jr., Bruce and Keith. He is survived by his sister Linda Wright of PA; his wife Shirley; daughter Susan Sorensen and husband Steve of Sierra Vista, AZ; son David Warner of Kent, WA; grandson Zachary St. Germain of Sea-Tac, WA; and step grandsons Jeffrey and Andrew Sorensen of Sierra Vista, AZ.
There will be a memorial service in July at Sierra Vista Community United Church of Christ, and internment at the Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery.
He will be missed by his family and many friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Casa De La Paz Hospice, 210 El Camino Real, Sierra Vista, AZ 85635.
