Stolen goods from Home Depot: At about 2:44 p.m. near the 1715 block of S. 352nd Street, Federal Way police reported that a man has stolen over $5,000 in merchandise from Home Depot in Federal Way on four separate days within the past month.

Oct. 8

Stranger steals vehicle from good samaritan: At about 4 a.m. near the 2100 block of S. 316th Street, a woman left her home to walk around near the Performing Arts and Event Center. She exited her vehicle to assist a stranger on the sidewalk whose belongings were falling over. The car’s parking brake was off and began to roll, so the stranger then got into the car to stop it. The woman thought the stranger was trying to help, but instead the stranger drove off. The vehicle was not located.

Oct. 9

Apartment on fire: At about 7:54 p.m. near the 30800 block of 18th Avenue S., a resident intentionally set fire to his apartment while his adult roommate and her child were inside.

Oct. 10

Suspect in shed: At about 11:19 a.m. near the 31000 block of 8th Avenue S., a suspect entered the victim’s residence, which was in violation of a current domestic violence protection order. The suspect entered the victim’s bedroom where he yelled at her, damaged her property and hit her with a hanger. The suspect fled the residence and hid in a shed on the property. Officers arrived on scene, arrested the man in the shed and booked him into Kent City Jail.

Oct. 11

Man with box cutter: At about 4:58 p.m. near the 34814 block of Pacific Highway S., a prolific solicitor at the Crossings complex was arrested. The man’s recent erratic behavior has been scaring both customers and tenants. After being warned not to be on the property, the man returned the next day and was yelling and waving a box cutter around. He was contacted by officers and arrested for trespassing.

Wheelchair ramp stolen: At about 2:55 p.m. near the 32100 block of 20th Lane SW, a man reported that sometime overnight an unknown suspect stole his aluminum wheelchair ramp from outside his door. The man said he uses the ramp because he is in a motorized wheelchair, and now he is unable to get out of the door. There is no suspect information, but the man did say that late the night before, a person in his 20s knocked on his door and asked for a cigarette, but he did not provide the person with one.

Oct. 12

Possible shooting: At about 10:33 p.m. near the 190 block of S. 334th Street, officers were dispatched to a shooting. Witnesses reported hearing four gunshots and found a parked vehicle had been hit by gunfire. A gold Mercedes sedan was seen fleeing the scene after the shots were fired. Police were unable to make contact with the owner of the vehicle.

Oct. 13

Kids in roadway: At about 12:34 a.m. near the 2000 block of S. 368th Place, Federal Way officers were dispatched to assist Washington State Patrol when two young children were found walking in the middle of Enchanted Parkway by Wild Waves. An officer made contact with the parents who seemed “legitimately shocked” that their kids were missing. There is no evidence of foul play. The 5-year-old boy reported being kidnapped by a man with green eyes and red teeth, however one of the parents provided video footage of the children’s room showing the children voluntarily getting up and walking out of their room. The parents were advised to speak with their children about safety and were encouraged to install child safety devices around their home.
